blossom

Last weekend, we said goodbye to a truly special member of our wildlife family, Ms. Blossom the Opossum, who crossed the rainbow bridge. 🌈

In nature, opossums typically live about one year. Ms. Blossom defied those odds and lived an incredible life of nearly 4 years. She came into our care in June 2021 as a tiny rehabilitation patient, weighing only 66 grams. With a missing eye and reduced hearing abilities, she became a permitted animal ambassador that September. She lived her next 3 years with us traveling, teaching, and debunking urban wildlife myths with our Education Team.

Ms. Blossom had a curious personality and a love for mozzarella cheese, which topped her list of favorite snacks (anything but greens, of course). Her oddly soft coat, her determination to walk miles on her cat wheel every day touched the lives of thousands of people she met.

Today, we honor her incredible life and contributions to wildlife education. She helped us teach so much about resilience, curiosity, and the important role of opossums in our ecosystem.

Rest easy, sweet Blossom. You’ll be dearly missed, but never forgotten. 🌸🌼
