A sweet terrier mix puppy now named Cody was saved after being trapped in a Pearland storm drain. 💔 A couple heard its cries and called the Pearland Fire Department who worked tirelessly to bring the pup to safety. After the rescue, the City of Pearland - Animal Services cared for Cody, warming him up and assessing his needs before transferring him to the Houston Humane Society Animal Clinic so he could receive immediate veterinary care.
The puppy is now safe at the Houston Humane Society and did sustain minor injuries. The dog does not have a microchip, so we’re holding them for 72 hours in hopes the family comes forward. If not, this adorable pup will be available for adoption.

"We’re hoping to reunite the puppy with his family. If not, we’re here to provide the safe shelter and support he needs on his journey to finding a loving forever home."

As we head into New Year's Eve, Houston Humane Society is also reminding pet owners to make sure their pets are microchipped in the event they get scared and run away from home because of fireworks and loud noises.

According to the society, many of those animals end up in shelters on Jan. 1, but microchipping increases the chances lost pets will be able to be reunited with their owners.

Houston Humane Society Animal Clinic offers microchipping services.
