HHS Pets Featured in Jan/Feb issue of Houston PetTalk

Some of the Houston Humane Society’s amazing animals are featured in the Jan/Feb issue of Houston PetTalk Magazine.

Often, people don’t realize the Houston Humane Society helps many types of animals throughout the year, not just dogs and cats.  Our Animal Cruelty Team, in partnership with Harris County Constables Office Precinct 5, responds to various calls regarding the neglect and cruel treatment of animals.  Some of the animals you’ll see from the photoshoot were rescued by our team, including a gorgeous paint horse on page 30, a potbelly piglet on page 31, and a coatimundi featured on page 35.  In addition, the Houston Humane Society receives many different types of animals through the admission department, including a bunny featured on page 27, an injured puppy needing emergency surgery on page 28, baby kittens (an orange tabby gracing the cover and a striped tabby featured on page 29), a heartworm positive German shepherd on page 32, and a poodle puppy on page 33.

You never know what you’ll find at the Houston Humane Society.  While the majority of animals needing our help tend to be dogs and cats, we’ve also cared for horses, donkeys, goats, sheep, pigs, chickens and roosters, geese, ducks, turtles, iguanas, snakes, bearded dragons, veiled chameleons, geckos, coatimundis, various birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, mice, gerbils, tarantulas… even a wallaby!  The list goes on and on, but regardless of what type of animal needs our help, we’ll continue to be there thanks to supporters like YOU!
